Vaccine Drive
The service that we hope to provide for the community is a flu vaccination drive that is available to all students on campus. This is a direct service that we can provide to meet a genuine need for those students who are not able to receive the flu vaccine normally. It also gives our students the chance to collaborate on the development and organization of the drive. The drive will include a collection of donations beforehand and students who can afford the shot will be encouraged to pay on the day of the vaccine drive. |
Investigation - Students will break into subcommittees that are tasked with answering the following questions:
Preparation/Planning - Students will coordinate the event by:
Action - Students will volunteer time to help on the day of the vaccine drive. Students will also fundraise to provide funds for free shots for the students who cannot afford the vaccine.
Reflection - Students will write a reflective response about their feelings towards the project on the day that the project is introduced and then have a chance to review their initial response and write a second response at the end of the project that talks about their feelings at the end, lessons they have learned, and what has shifted in their perceptions since the first day.
Demonstration/Celebration - Select students will present to the Administration about the results of the vaccination drive. Another set of select students will have the chance to present the results in the weekly multimedia news broadcast "Knights' News," all students who participated will be listed in the credits for the presentation.
Evaluation - Students will be expected to provide weekly progress reports leading up to the vaccination drive. Each student subcommittee will need to justify the efforts of each group member. Students grades will be based on a rubric that includes their efforts towards the completion of the project and their ability to communicate their progress with the teachers.
- How will we distribute the vaccine on the day of the drive?
- How much will the vaccine cost per student?
